complete, numerous complete state census records for various years, 1870 census index, all
Oklahoma census records with a soundex for Indian Territory and Oklahoma Territory 1900.
Other items of special note are: Indian-Pioneer History, all Delaware County newspaper
microfilm and some from surrounding areas, the LDS Family Search on CD-ROM, War of the
Rebellion: Official Records of the Union and Confederate Armies.
The Cherokee collection includes a searchable CD-ROM of the Dawes Roll, and the Cherokee census cards and applications on microfilm. The collection includes nearly all Cherokee censuses and rolls and numerous books about the Cherokee.

| Read with Friends Storytime Program |
TLC (Teaching Literacy to Children) reading time is for infants and toddlers through age 3 and their grown-ups. TLC is held each Tuesday from 10:00-10:30 a.m. Preschool Storytime is for 4 and 5 year-olds and is held each Tuesday from 10:45-11:15 a.m. During Preschool storytime, parents may stay or leave the room based on the child’s comfort level; however, parents must stay in the library, perhaps using the time to choose their own materials.
The purpose of the “Read with Friends” program is to help children become accustomed to a group setting, and develop a love of books and reading. Storytime activities include reading with puppets, flannel board activities, rhymes, finger-plays, music, movement, and snacks; with some crafts for the preschool group. New this year, is a share your favorite book Tuesday, and an opportunity to earn free books for regular storytime attendance. When young children have plenty of pleasant reading experiences the likelihood of success in school increases significantly. We hope that you will allow us to be part of your child’s early literacy education! |
